Deliberately came to work an hour late today, b/c I knew I could stay an hour later, and I got up a little late, and just needed time to clean out my inbox at home. Too bad Eudora wasn't working and I couldn't download anything, but I was able to address some of the stuff already in there, and decide what could wait a week until I get back from RI.

Biking to RI this weekend...can't wait! Didn't get the day off on Friday from one of my jobs, though (grr...even though I asked 2 months in advance) so I'll have to do a day's biking in half a day. I hope I make good time - I don't feel like biking around Providence at night. (That reminds me, a517dogg, where's your dorm?)

Also, news on the choral front not encouraging. The chorus I started for new music (we have a name now, New Century Voices) is not growing. 2 altos dropped out, 4 people had auditions scheduled Sunday and 3 didn't show up, and the one who did show up, when I offered her a spot, turned it down. The last was especially depressing, b/c she seemed really enthusiastic to begin with, and prepared for the rehearsal with the music I sent her so she was really on, but I guess something happened in rehearsal to change her mind? I suppose it could be the repertoire, or the rehearsal location, but seeing as I'm the director, I'm forced to wonder if it was me. :( Argh. And how can it be that I'm more desperate for women singers than men? How often does that happen? Where have all the altos gone? (Long time passing...)

OK, time to actually do the work they pay me to do...

do you want me to post a plea in my LJ for boston women singers interested in ____ sort of music with an awesome director? No promises, but it might reach someone who knows someone.

Wish I could sing in your group!!!

Sure, couldn't hurt! (After all, you already got me one lovely bass...)

(Be sure to emphasize that I'm auditioning everybody though, and reserve the right to accept or decline offers! I realized that I've been incredibly lucky in the fact that the first 10-12 people who offered to sing were all really good, but I'm not sure how far my luck will hold...)
