I need socks. And underwear. I would like to buy these things online. Fairly cheaply. Because that makes my life easier. Where do y'all get cheap but not totally crappy socks and underwear online? Like, Amazon?

Also, more specifically, if anyone can recommend awesome patterned tights for people of heft, that might be particularly useful, as I want to start playing with that.

P.S. Go comment on Friday's post!

I *HEART* We Love Colors for tights. They do plus sizes (if I fit them, you will) in totally awesome colors and tie-dyed fun, too. :) And gloves, and socks, and laces, and bodystockings. Cheap, they are not, but they are good quality tights.

Love the fact that there's a plus-sized section!

Are you going to appear in turquoise tights the next time I see you? :)

Oh my GOSH. You are so right. (I guess the "girl" designator was more a warning for the underwear question.)

I think I'm in love with every single Polonova (http://www.sockdreams.com/_shop/pages/socks_cat_CategoryID_150.php) thing. Goodbye, money.

it's true, I do not have a similar recommendation for procuring underwear. and I must admit, the site was originally mentioned to [livejournal.com profile] shideem, I just happened to share in the awesomeness.

Underware: http://decentexposures.com

I get my bras there. I love them.

Oo, great link. Thanks. I don't need any bras right now; do you also get your underwear from them, and are you happy with it?

I get Cacique undies too, and I really like them. They aren't the cheapest, but they are comfy.

I get my underwear from REI. :} It's by Ex Officio, and I get it mostly because it dries really quickly when I get sweaty in the summer.

I get most of my socks these days from sierra trading post - they tend to have good quality, low cost hiking socks. However, it is a bit of a gamble and if you find something you like you need to be quick to buy a bunch since they're an overstock/clearance company.

For socks, I go to Filene's Basement. Tights too.

Do they have an online option? I am hoping to automate this, so in the future every three to five years I can just go back to the same source.

I can't speak about any of the retailers mentioned here specifically, but a lot of retailers change styles (or even manufacturers) every few years--or even more frequently. This makes me CRAZY! I get underwear at a department store--just the basic cotton in the style that I prefer--and they've changed manufacturers and styles about 4 times since I've been old enough to buy my own clothes. Ditto Victoria's Secret--I used to love a particular style of their bras. But the new version is different, and I don't like them as much. Yarr. Socks I've done okay with, but that's because I buy them in the Men's section of crew socks at Target.

Perhaps my problem is that I want these things to stay the *same,* and retailers assume that we want *new* and *different* things all the time....but I guess I'm saying "beware--the one you like now may not be the one they carry in 5 years." :( Or, I'm just too picky.

Yeah, I figured that was likely, but I was holding out hope! Besides, maybe I can at least get one automatic renewal in before things change.

I love my Jockey "No Pantyline Promise" undies. They are the only underwear I can count on not to ride up/cause wedgies. Because of the way they stitch in a super narrow band of elastic, they aren't the longest lasting, but they are super comfortable. http://www.jockey.com/en-US/Catalog/Silhouette.aspx?CategoryName=Women&DepartmentName=Underwear&SilhouetteName=Underwear&List=103 Not sure what your definition of "cheap" is, but if they seem to pricey, they often have styles on sale, and I tend to get them at the outlet stores, where there are often discounts or discontinued colors for $5 or less a pair.

Thank you for the tip! $5 or less a pair definitely seems cheap enough for me. :)

Also, how perfect is your icon?
