week of doom ended
Jul. 16th, 2005 09:51 amYes! The week of doom is over. Today I go into NYC for 2 opera performances, but have no teaching obligations. Tomorrow is FREE! FREE! And next week I teach, but the opera will be over.
My theory students all understand inversions. Even those who were having really big problems after Thursday's class. Yes! And about 10 of them are already analyzing hymns! Am I good, or what? I just wish there was time to teach them voice-leading, instead of just analysis.
And after I brought a tuning fork to class, one kid went out and bought one. And when I said how cool that was in class, all of a sudden a bunch more went, "Wait, where do you buy those?" My students are cool, and I am extremely fond of them.
I am still tired, although I finally got enough sleep last night. I think I may spend at least part of the time off between shows today curled up in the NYC library. Maybe I can finally make some more headway into Cryptonomicon. I'd better go find out where the library is.
