Merry Christmas to everyone! We just finished unwrapping gifts, and as usual, my family proved to be very savvy gift-givers. Yet another time when I feel smugly proud to have the family I do. More books than anything else. :) Any RISK players out there? My brother gave me the LOTR version of RISK. And I think everyone liked what I got them, and as far as I know I didn't double anyone else's gift (the dangers of Amazon lists) so that's good.

Got slammed with a massive cold yesterday evening. Noticed my throat felt ever-so-slightly sore in the afternoon and was sniffling a bit by the time my Dad and I got home. I waffled, but decided not to go to the midnight service at my old church (which is always fun, b/c all the alumni of the high school church choir show up to sing, so you get to catch up with everyone you sang with once a week for 10 years when you were a kid.) Good thing I decided that, b/c by the time we got through dinner (fondue, yum...) I was sneezing up a storm, and my throat was very sore. My primary feeling is gratitude that it happened on Christmas Eve/Day - not b/c I'm particularly Scrooge-like, but because today is a vacation day, and tomorrow I have to start finishing off applications.

My brother and I will soon be off to make the cat-rounds. I'm cat-sitting for [livejournal.com profile] mixedborder, he's cat-sitting for someone in Winchester, and then we have to stop by my place to feed my cats. We can listen to all our new CDs in the car (Anna Russell playing the bag-pipes, anyone?)

Hope everyone is as happy as I am (hopefully w/o the help of the Codeine) and having an enjoyable and relaxing day, whatever your holiday rituals.
