So next door to my office at Longy, there is a practice room that tends to have a lot of voice lessons. And if you go into the filing closet between my office and the practice room, you can hear everything really clearly. (You can hear it in my office too, which can get a little annoying b/c apparently the concept of "being in tune" is not as high a priority for singers as it is for instrumentalists, but don't get me started.) Anyways, I just went in there to file something, and there was a soprano in the practice room singing some aria who reminded me, intensely and unavoidably, of Anna Russell singing "I Love the Spring," from the snippet entitled "The British: Pure But Dull." I just had to giggle. Not that she was bad, but she sounded EXACTLY like Anna Russell being...well, pure and dull.

Oh, there she goes again. Time to turn up the speakers.
