Everyone keeps saying, "Oh, so since orals are over, you're practically done, right? You have nothing to do?"

Tonight: rehearsal from 6-11:30 (it's an hour away)
Tomorrow night: rehearsal from 6-11:30 (it's an hour away)
Friday night: try to attend both the Westminster opera performance (none of which I've seen since I've been here) AND the Symphonic Choir performance, which are at the same time. Test theory of being in two places at one time.
Saturday night: performance from 6-midnight (at the place an hour away)
Sunday night: throw a dual-birthday party two friends!
Monday night: dress rehearsal for Roseae Feminae
Tuesday night: last performance for Roseae Feminae
Wednesday night: rehearsal that, frankly, I just might skip

Also before graduation: need to write a paper. Don't have a topic yet. Also need to learn to play Bach's Fugue in C from Book I...in any key. Also need to study for finals. Also need to find a job. Also need to complete various homework assignments, such as that little article report due last week.

All I want to do is sit in front of the TV and watch a LOT of it. Like, hours. With no feelings of guilt b/c I ought to be doing something else. For a WEEK - tons and tons and tons of TV! All alone, with take-out! House, DS9, Buffy, Angel, BSG, TNG, Law & Order, Lost, Gilmore Girls - I'm not picky! I just want to watch a lot of TV! Please?

Accomplished so far - went for a run/walk with [livejournal.com profile] annelarissa this morning, and also submitted a job application. Go, me! Next job on the list: University of Hawaii!

I approve of Hawaii so long as (a) you station yourself on the Big Island rather than Honolulu (Honolulu); (b) your 10-acre compound is located on the South Kohala coast near Kona, which has a decent music scene; (c) your compound has a few beachside bungalo-type thingies; and (d) you invest in a private plane with landing rights in the NYC metro area. Otherwise, really, why bother? :)

It is tempting to apply to faraway places for jobs -- I myself came way close to apply for a clerkship in the Virgin Islands, and a colleague of mine got a prestigious Ninth Circuit clership in Honolulu just because -- but professionally, once you're there, you're there. It's another world. If you happen to want another world, kewl. Otherwise, what precisely is wrong with New York or Boston? :)

Spoken like a true dyed-in-the-wool New Yorker. :)

Well, the University's in Honolulu, so I don't think I have a choice of where to station myself!

Otherwise, what precisely is wrong with New York or Boston? :)

I agree with [livejournal.com profile] kcobweb - damn! You ARE a New Yorker! Why do I need a reason to get a job somewhere else?

Well, I'm am a New Yorker, yes, but I'm not a Manhattanite or even one that thinks that the world revolves around New York. My point wasn't that one needs a reason to be somewhere other than New York -- there are zillions of such reasons. My limited point is that especially for a musician, there's nothing wrong with New York or Boston. A wee bit defensive, are we?
