I made two mixes this X-mas. One was entitled "Choral Gems of the 20th Century," and it's a collection of some of the more famous classical choral music of (wait for it!) the 20th century. I gave it to [livejournal.com profile] stealthmuffin and [livejournal.com profile] sigerson. The other was entitled "Music that [livejournal.com profile] sen_no_ongaku and/or [livejournal.com profile] thomascantor May Not Have Heard: A selection of 20th century choral repertoire." It's a bunch of more obscure yet equally enjoyable choral music of (wait for it! here it comes!) the 20th century.

If anyone would like a copy of either of these two mixes, respond to this post in a comment, and also e-mail me your address. If you don't know my regular e-mail, then we'll work something out. Sending $2 or similar compensation my way for CD and postage would also not be amiss, but is absolutely not necessary.

Here's the track list for both.

So I did. (A 2-volume mix of the best of Dr. Demento, for those not in the know. :)

If it's not a carefully guarded secret, could we get a listing of what's on the mixes?

I would love a copy of the second one. I suspect the choral gems would be familiar to me, but if [livejournal.com profile] sen_no_ongaku and [livejournal.com profile] thomascantor haven't heard the stuff on the second disc, probably neither have I. :-) Thank you!

Still awaiting e-mailed address!

Also, uh, have no idea where photos could be. None whatsoever. You're on your own. XP

I'd be interested in hearing both, and in sharing them with my mother (in two choruses and a board member of a third, while working part-time for both a Gilbert & Sullivan company and a brass group).
Will I see you in Boston?

YAAY, you have some Aulis Sallinen! I love his operas.

I have a couple operas by Einojuhani Rautavaara, too, but don't care for them too much. Only got them 'cause they have Jorma Hynninen in them.

Operas, eh? Interesting!

So far, I enjoy listening to Rautavaara b/c I think he's good, not necessarily b/c I like him a lot. It's a short song cycle, though, and I don't know much else.

Making that mix made me pay attention to how much is going on in the Baltic area right now. Might be the most active choral/contemporary music area in the world.

Me, me! Meee!

Although, instead of shipping costs, I have a better idea: I actually drive down to Princeton and visit you, or you come up to NY and visit me. Why the heck have we been only one hour away for half a year and still not seen each other?

Want to come down for a concert? Or I should be in NYC at the end of January - I'll let you know if I have any free time (we're singing Ravel with the NY Phil - you should come!)

Right! I wants them! Man, it's so rare to find someone who like >1960 choral music! Some of it I have already (even performed some of it), but I am curious to hear the mix. I'd be more than happy to defray your costs.

No Lou Harrison, George Crumb or William Schumann, though, I'm surprised. My favorite Paert piece is the De Profundis. Ok, I'm blathering.

In case you're wondering where I popped up from, blame [livejournal.com profile] danger_chick. :-)

No problem...but I have to warn you, the semester has begun, I'm snowed under with work, and my cd burner is broke. So you'll get them eventually...but no promises as to when!
