I just called someone asking about a singing gig, and I'm on the phone, leaving a message on voicemail, and I get to the part where I leave my number, and I TOTALLY BLANK OUT. I have no idea what my phone number is. So I just make something up, hang up, look at the info part on the phone where it tells you what your phone number is, call back, and apologize and leave my real number.

I feel like a total nutter.

I hope he listens to both messages before calling, b/c otherwise he'll use the first number that I totally made up and someone will be very confused.

(Yes, I was nervous, b/c I really want this job. More details when I do or do not get it, so I don't jinx myself.)

Well, you never call yourself, so why would you know the number? :)

This happens to me on a semi-regular basis, though I have never given a false phone number. :) Usually I just stammer for a moment before the number comes to me.

It was, like, GONE, though. Even after I hung up I couldn't remember it, and had to look it up.

I recommend taping the phone number to your phone. I've done this on numerous occasions due to very similar problems.

I have totally had that happen to me before. Perhaps even more than once.
