Hear ye, hear ye! I have a concert coming up, and I really want you all to come.
No, really! I have about [n, where n is a large number] concerts a year, and of course I want people to come to most of them, but there are a few that are super-important to me, and this is one of them. Anthology is a group I really love being a part of, and we have put a [expletive]-load of work into this concert.
We asked eight composers to write us pieces, and they did. So we will be premiering eight pieces of new music, written specifically for unaccompanied women's vocal quartet. They are all on the topic of Light and Dark, but that was interpreted very loosely, and they are extremely varied. Two of them in particular I consider great contributions to the women's choral repertoire at large, and I would consider programming them with [extremely fine amateur women's chorus] but I won't tell you which two. :) Two others were very hard but really grew on me in the rehearsal process, and I wish we had had more time to focus on them because the harmonies are complex, but quite beautiful. Another piece I have nicknamed "Vocal Sorbet."
Please come! Concerts are Friday and Sunday; Friday night at 8 pm in Boston, and Sunday afternoon at 2 pm in Harvard Square. Details are on the Anthology website. Bring your friends!
