I realize that since everyone uses their inboxes differently, this is hard to put in context, but it generally floats around 200, and everything in there is something I have to respond to. (Unless we get past, say, a year, and then it just gets embarrassing so occasionally I just delete things.) I resolved that I really wanted to get it down to 100 by the end of this month...and I did! Now I get sushi! (Getting sushi is basically my reward for anything.)
One thing I have realized today is that I have to develop a different attitude towards the cold-call e-mails, which are usually composers asking me to look at their stuff. This doesn't happen super-frequently, but I need to realize that my life is easier when I respond immediately with a "thank you very much, not looking right now" instead of letting it sit there, and feeling guilty because I haven't yet thoroughly acquainted myself with their entire catalogue. I have a feeling this problem will only get bigger in the future.
