w00t for visitors!

cute_fuzzy_evil and ethicsgradient came to visit, and it was just lovely.* There was sitting and talking, and going to Bach concerts, and the playing of chess, and the seeing of Batman Begins, and fresh cherries and fresh sourdough bread and homemade guacamole and pancakes and pepper-encrusted beef with blue cheese sauce. There was gelato, and used bookstores, and at the end of every day there was a spectacular firefly show in my backyard in honor of their presence. It was really, really lovely to have them here. The necessity of being close to people I love keeps slowing climbing up the priority charts.
And this week begin the rehearsals for La bella dormente at Lincoln Center. I will now go memorize some opera.
*The one thing about the weekend that could not possibly jive with the adjective "lovely" was a CD sent to me via my guests by the...incomparablestealthmuffin. It is by a band called "warp 11" and the album title is "boldly go down on me." I will leave the rest to your imagination. (Be sure your imagination provides a lead singer with terrible tuning problems.) Suggestions for an appropriate counter-gift are welcome.
