Mar. 29th, 2005 07:33 pm(Unnecessary background to this anecdote: Symphonic Choir is divided in two this semester. Half are performing Berlioz' Damnation of Faust this week with the New York Philharmonic. This is the party I'm crashing. The other half, which is the half I've been participating in all semester, is being conducted by DW, a guest conductor. Since he has a gig in MN or somewhere this week, and since the other conductors are busy w/ Berlioz or taking choirs on tour, DW left rehearsals in the hands of the four section leaders, of whom I am one. Therefore, for half an hour both yesterday and today I rehearsed the Westminster Symphonic Choir. It was stressful beforehand, but mighty fun during.)
Today after Symphonic Choir
chorusgirl19 came up to me with a trail of people behind her and a large paper bag.
"
wavyarms," she said, "We are your friends, and we want you to know that you have a problem. And we are going to stage an intervention."
I looked down at my pants, but my fly was zipped, and there were no egregious stains.
"No, no, it's not your clothes," said DD.
"Yesterday was your birthday, and all you did was go home and work. That is a problem. So I don't care what you think you're doing right now, you're coming with us to go eat sushi and drink." And at this point she pulled out a rather enormous bottle of champagne.
So we went to one of the sushi places in Princeton I'd never been to before. Princeton may be pricey and yuppie, but it is civilized enough to have at least 5, possibly more, sushi places within walking distance, so this was somewhere I hadn't tried yet. And it was fabulous - mucho cheap, and the hugest pieces of fish you've ever seen. I have a new favorite restaurant. And I drank a lot of champagne and we all talked shop and it was great.
Thanks, yo. :)
