practice rooms
Mar. 23rd, 2005 11:17 amI rarely use the practice rooms here, b/c they are really awful. Every time I forget, and use one, I come out swearing I'll only practice at home. The pianos are in pretty good shape, but there is absolutely no sound-proofing. I just tried to do some practice for Symphonic today, which involves learning tricky notes. It was almost impossible, b/c I could barely hear myself sing. W/ the person next door sounding as if they're right next to you (which, really, they are) it's very hard to concentrate on what you're supposed to be doing. Even next door, she's louder than I am. It doesn't help that the people here have such large voices.
I long for Williams practice rooms. I pine, yearn, and languish. Truly.
However, today is one of those nice I-am-at-a-music-school-now days. Only one class, at 9:10, for which there was no homework. Rehearsal from 11:30-12:30, free lunch talking to prospective students, tutoring someone in ear-training at 1, voice lesson at 1:30, go weight-lifting w/ SJ at 2, another rehearsal from 4:30-6 pm. It's not always a bad life. (Lots of homework tonight, but I won't think about that right now.)
How do people get in to the Tallis Scholars? Or the Sixteen Harry Christophers? Or the Swedish Radio Choir?
