NM, part the first
Mar. 14th, 2005 12:18 pmHere I am in New Mexico! Trip was mostly uneventful. I took the trains to Philly on Saturday, and stayed overnight in a youth hostel there. I have no problems with the hostel (which was my first) but I wish I'd brought a flashlight - I had to get up at 5 am to get to the airport in time, and since I couldn't turn on the lights, I had to pack by feel.
The airport had one dramatic moment where I forgot my tickets at the TCBY and had to run around the airport trying to find them, but someone had left them at the desk near the gate, so that was OK.
danger_chick and HH and MW picked me up at the airport, and then we drove to Los Alamos. New Mexico looks fascinating. Amazing views. It reminds me a lot of Nevada (no surprise there) although I've never seen anything like the mesas. Last night we had a dinner party w/ people from
danger_chick's dojang, all of whom are very friendly, funny people. Today I woke up to snow. Snow so significant that
danger_chick's lab was shut down, and TKD is cancelled tonight, and basically nothing is going on. I knew there was a *chance* that it would snow in NM, but I find it ironic that the first night I'm here they get the most snow they've had all year. I wanted to escape snow! At least I get to sleep in and watch TV and play with kittens. :)
Future developments will be posted!
