It is officially a good day! Despite the fact that it started out with rolling out of bed an hour early so I could get a doctor's check-up. A *full* doctor's checkup, with an EKG (b/c my pulse is on the low side) and blood work and everything. I think the doctor might have been a little disturbed by my passive, somnambulent state.
However, at Longy I discovered that I got the job of Choral Assistant for the Prepatory Choruses, which means that every Saturday I get out of bed early to go help small people sing, and if the conductor is out of town, which she will be a bit this fall, then I conduct them. Whee! I hope it will be fun, and I know it will be highly educational. It's an apprenticeship I'd be willing to do for free, but they're even going to pay me.
And then I came to Harvard and got a raise. :)
And I've decided to throw caution to the winds, and try out for Ruddigore! I'd rather do that than my other chorus (not that I don't love my other chorus, but I'd rather do Gilbert and Sullivan than just about anything.) We'll see what I end up with after I go audition tomorrow!
I'm a bit daunted by everything I'm taking on...I think there are drastic scheduling changes ahead in the next few weeks for me, but I'm not sure yet what they'll be.
And oh, yes, if anyone knows anyone in the Boston area who might like to sing in a chorus I'm putting together, PLEASE let me know!
