The Renaissance rocks my world
Feb. 1st, 2005 10:25 pmWe have several items on the agenda tonight, ladies and gentlemen.
First off, Kantorei is AWESOME! That's the early music group - I went to my first rehearsal with them tonight. AWESOME! It has been a long, long time since I absolutely did not want a rehearsal to end. DM said, "OK, we're done, bye!" and I was like, "Wait! Stop! I want to keep singing! Where are you all going? Come back! We can sing the same piece over and over and over all night! It'll be fabulous! Please?" Seriously. We ended on the Lamentations of Jeremiah by Tallis, which is fabulous. It's me, another woman that wasn't there tonight, and The Men. I get to sing the top line. I can see why sopranos like it. And there's all this fabulous chocolate woofing going on under me. The last time I felt like this after a rehearsal was after my first Chamber Singers rehearsal at Williams, beginning of my freshman year, when we sight-read the Messiah, and I went home and got choked up b/c we had been able to sight-read the Messiah. I had forgotten that this is some of my favorite music - after all, it's been a long time since I sang it in a setting like that. But Renaissance music was the reason I came here - forced to choose between so many different types of music in the world, I had to pick the path that would let me work with this stuff.
*deep sigh*
OK. Second, I'm in LA for the last half of this week at the ACDA convention, so don't expect a response to e-mail.
Third, I'm super-busy this semester, so don't count on my reading your LJ, or (see above) responding to your e-mail in anything remotely approaching a timely fashion.
