wavyarmsBoo-yah. Go me. Just licked a nasty problem - this guy couldn't get to google, but could get to all other websites. He could also get to the ###.###.##.## address of google, but not "www.google.com". Reinstalling, making sure no bad programs or cookies on his machine, etc. didn't work. Turns out a file named hosts in c:/winnt/help had a list of search engines that he was prevented from getting to. Don't ask me how it got there, I just fixes 'em. Deleted the contents of the file, and now it works!
(Normally I don't consider Harvard-job-related stuff interesting enough to post about, but this made me feel like I actually know what I'm doing. And how did I figure it out? With google, of course. :)
